Residents of Mokola area, Ibadan, were stunned on Tuesday afternoon when a vehicle hit one of the barriers at the entrance of the bridge by the side of Alaafia Hospital, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
Nigerian Tribune gathered that the incident happened around 2.30pm.
Eyewitness also informed that the driver and the vehicle had been handed over to the police.
The fallen barrier barricaded entrance onto the bridge.
When Nigerian Tribune visited the scene around 5.00pm, on Tuesday, a red coloured branded coffee cab vehicle with registration number Lagos JJJ 747 XE was parked at the uncle Joe bus stop side of the bridge.
In another development, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Mr Kayode Adepoju, in a statement, said the ministry of works was working on the theory that the barrier had probably been demolished over night and that the carcass was left hanging only for it to be hit by the oncoming truck.
