The University of Ibadan chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has dared the federal government over the ultimatum it gave for the reopening of the nation’s universities that have not been able to carry out academic activities for months as a result of strike action embarked upon by members of the union.
Speaking to newsmen in Ibadan, Dr Segun Ajiboye, Chairman of University of Ibadan chapter of the union advised parents not to risk the lives of their children by telling them to return to the campus.
“Don’t risk the lives of your children, keep them at home because ASUU will not teach. Soldiers an d the police deployed by the Federal Government will not teach.” he said.
He added that the union is going to make sure that the rewards of the strike materialize before it calls off the strike.
“If we could withstand the Babangida government then the Goodluck Jonathan government is no match for us,” he said.
