Engineer and politician, Seyi Makinde will soon officially declare his ambition to contest the 2015 governorship elections in Oyo state on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). This was revealed by his personal assistant, Mr Hakeem Azeez.
According to Azeeez, Makinde’s posters are already across the state and are meant to create awareness.
He said: “It is a prerequisite to declaration of a fresh idea coupled with top experience and exposure.”
“It is to inform the good people of the state of an impending declaration of a new person, a new idea with fresh energy and exposure laden with top class experience and which has no enemy.”
Also in the party, the former governor of Oyo state, Adebayo Alao-Akala may also declare his ambition to contest although his team is saying that the Ogbomoso native is presently focused on ensuring peace in the state chapter of the PDP.
Concerning Akala’s 2015 governorship posters that have flooded major streets in Ibadan and social media campaigns on the internet, media aide to the former governor, Mr Abraham Ojo said his principal had not told anybody that he was planning to re-contest as governor in 2015, saying he was not aware of such development.
Ojo noted that what Akala was committed to now “is the unity and total reconciliation currently going on under the leadership of Alhaji Yekeen Adeojo.
“I’m not aware of such plan but you cannot out the fact that the posters can be the handiwork of some his grassroots supporters who are quite sure that based on his pedigree, they still believe he can do it.”
