Oyo State Commissioner of Industry, Applied Science and Technology Mr Dapo Lam Adesina while hosting reps of Globacom telecoms company to his office.

He said part of Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s transformational Agenda is to welcome more Public Private Partnership (PPP) so that the state would develop and return back to the pacesetting era.

Mr Adesina noted with regret that although science and technology has contributed to nation building, the State (Oyo) which was foremost in that area seems to be lagging behind due to factors ranging from insensitivity of the previous administrations in sustaining the legacy to non maintenance of existing systems structures and platforms.

He also berated the participation of the private sector, especially the communication giant of not being forth coming and encouraged a better liaison with the present administration. In rare nostalgia, he said, “I remember when I was young and I was a member of the JETs club and I made a cardboard helicopter because I had the opportunity to fiddle with materials made available to us. It’s a shame that the club is now moribund in our schools today.”

He concluded by discussing, with excitement, the projects of the ministry for the year and also enumerated successes achieved in his two months of assuming office. Setting up a computer village in Oyo state, Technological Trade Fair, Manpower development of talented youths in the area of applied science and technology,Science and Technology Competitions,ICT centres,Job fairs to create jobs for the youths, interactive website, formulation of Industrial policy for the state,Industrial forum and Platform MIAST OYO to mention a few.

In her reaction, the leader of the delegation, Mrs Yetunde Awobidejo, promised a more symbiotic relationship between their company and the ministry.
