Ajimobi approves drug distribution centres in Ibadan

Oyo State government has announced the approval of drug distribution centres in Ibadan to ensure qualitative heath care delivery available to the citizens. 

Governor Abiola Ajimobi made the announcement while speaking on the sideline of the 2014 Week of the Oyo State branch of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria in Ibadan. Ajimobi, who was represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said plans to roll out the implementation of the project would be out in four weeks. 
The governor said that the drug distribution centres would assist in making qualitative and effective health care delivery more available to the average citizen.
Ajimobi also explained that his administration had started the Community Health Insurance Scheme in 15 out of the 30 Local Governments in the state.
Implementation of a comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme has been commenced for staff and people of 15 local governments in the state.
“Our administration shall not relent until we make quality and effective health care affordable available for every citizen of Oyo state,” he said.
In his address, the Commissioner for Health said that staff of the health ministry had embarked on sensitisation visits to selected local governments.
Gbadegesin appealed to the Pharmaceutical Association of Nigeria, Oyo state branch for maximum cooperation in this regard.
He urged the members of the association to continue to render more supports in the area of drug manufacturing and supply
