The theme of the event is “2015 Election: Is Nigeria Shaping up to be an Eerie Repeat of 1965?” Damilare said the theme was chosen to address the similarities between the parliamentary election of 1965 with the current political climate in Nigeria.
He said: “The theme seeks to relate the hustle and jostle for political survival in the parliamentary election of 1964-1965 all aimed at political relevance and quest for power of 1965 – the NNA (NPC/NNDP) Alliance and UPGA/NCNC Alliance to the currently political atmosphere of the nation; coupled with many national issues especially that of security and the constantly disappearing monies in government.” &

Damilare said: “We seek to educate, inspire and enlighten the minds of Nigerians on the real history of Nigeria from the First Republic; to know the root source of our current predicament because we strongly believe leadership crisis, ethnicity and political instability have been the hallmark of Nigerian politics.
“Also with this lecture, we wish to motivate and foster individual and collective involvement in the local community. It starts from within. We want to offer opportunity to enlighten the ever-increasing youth population to brace up to challenges and exploit profitable entrepreneurial opportunities/ventures that come their way.”
He however said the ultimate aim is to honor Chief S. L. Akintola.
“Most especially, [our aim is]to celebrate a worthy hero of Ogbomoso land on the significant day of his posthumous birthday. He lives on,” he told IBPulse.com
