At Filmhouse Cinema Dugbe Ibadan, the shows at 12:05PM, 2:10PM, 4:15PM, and 6:20PM were sold out.
The movie is about twin sisters, Olanna and Kainene. They returned home to 1960s Nigeria, where they soon diverge on different paths. As civil war breaks out, political events loom larger than their differences as they join the fight to establish an independent republic.
I wanted to watch the 4:15PM show but was told it had been sold out, forcing me to wait till the 6:20PM show.
While on the queue, I had a small chat with the manager of Filmhouse Cinema Dugbe, Mr. Osita and he admitted the turnout was quite impressive.
I’ve been to cinemas within and outside Nigeria, very few had the number of turnouts last night which means that Ibadan people will come as long as you deliver.
The movie is almost ready but as for me, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Thandie Newton, or Anika Noni Rose weren’t the most impressive, my favorite actor was Onyeka Onwenu.
