Rev Gbenga Kotila, Convener of the event and Senior Pastor of Center for Reality International Church, in this exclusive interview with IBPulse.com spoke on what is expected at the event.

When and how did IGNITE come into being?

Ignite started in 2012, but prior to that I started a network in 2011 called “Living for Meaning” in which we hosted a meeting tagged ‘maximizing your living’. As we proceeded into the year 2012 edition, one of us, Pastor Ayo Oloyede suggested that we bring Don Moen, and we went ahead.

What is the aim of organizing IGNITE?

The aim is to raise a breed without greed. We are passionate about raising an army of change with a mindset of nation building. IGNITE serves as a platform to bring young generation together and impact them with right and quality values as well as assisting them in charting the right course of life, having a mentality of enforcing the kingdom of God with kingdom values.

How similar and how different are IGNITE and The Experience?

IGNITE is geared towards raising future leaders who will be on the cutting edge in their generation, be ambassadors of God’s grace as well as becoming relevant in all spheres of life. We have a Mentoring group called Future Leaders Initiative, this spans across different campuses, especially in the South West for now, IGNITE is a tool in which we bring these youths and other young adults together and impact them, stirring their hearts to making a change in the nation.

What is the vision for IGNITE and how soon do you expect that to be achieved?

Our vision is to raise 30,000 future leaders who will be on the cutting edge in their generation, be ambassadors of God’s grace as well as becoming relevant in all spheres of life. We have a Mentoring group called Future Leaders Initiative, this spans across different campuses, especially in the South West for now, IGNITE is a tool in which we bring these youths and other young adults together and impact them, stirring their hearts to making a change in the nation.

How were the Gospel music ministers shortlisted for the event?

The gospel ministers are selected as the Lord lays them on our hearts. We consider people with the same purpose, passion and calling to make a difference like we want to.

How many people attended last year and how many are expected this year?

Ignite 2013 was a success, about 4,000 people were in attendance and by the Grace of God, we are expecting nothing less.

What does IGNITE really mean to you?

IGNITE is a yearly concert to stir the heart of youths and upwardly mobile generation about purposeful living, integrity and becoming assets to their generation. It is focused on reformation of the lives of youths because they are the future of the nation. We are passionate about raising an army of change with a mindset of nation building and a breed without greed. It serves as a platform to bring young generation together and impact them with right and quality values as well as assisting them in charting the right course of life.

I see you all over the world but you operate from Ibadan. What is unique about running an international ministry from Ibadan?

It is unique because Ibadan is where the Lord has planted us and established us to operate from. Where the Lord plants a man is where his light will break forth from and his announcement will be made. Where the Lord does not send you to, He will not pay your fare.

What are the testimonies from last year’s edition?

There are several testimonies of revivals in the lives of people, restoration of fellowship and communion with God, reconnection with God; re-direction of purpose, understanding of God’s mandate on lives. Many surrendered to the purpose and counsel of God for their lives, healings of the minds and bodies and several other testimonies.

Thank you.
