I took time this morning to analyse the publicly declared election petition filed before the tribunal in Oyo state. In all, 37 petitions have been filed.
The Accord candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, currently representing Oyo South in the Senate, is challenging the victory of Mr. Adesoji Akanbi of the APC.
Also, House of Representatives Leader, Mulikat Akande- Adeola, who sought re-election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has also dragged the winner of Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire Federal Constituency, Mr. Ebenezer Ogunwuyi of the Labour Party (LP) before the tribunal.
Here is the summary of the petitions
Governorship 1 – Rashidi Ladoja (Accord Party)
Senatorial – 2
Federal House of Representatives – 10
State House of Assembly – 24
According to Nigerian laws, petitions before the tribunal must be resolved within 180 days.
