Civil servants in Oyo state this morning commenced strike. The industrial action was announced by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).
Last Friday, IBPulse exclusively reported the workers are going on strike to protest the failure of the state government to pay salaries. The leaders of the congress officially announced the commencement of the strike late Monday evening.
IBPulse can also exclusively report that the workers decided to go on strike when the governor told them he could only pay ‘basic’ for now and he would pay the rest subsequently.
This did not go down well with the civil servants who then decided to go on strike.
More details will come later
