We did not collect bribe from Governor Ajimobi – Oyo NLC

The leadership of the Oyo state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has denied reports that it has been bribed by the Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led government of Oyo state to truncate the industrial action the union members embarked upon last week.

It would be recalled that last week, IBPulse exclusively reported that the civil servants, acting on a directive issued by national secretariat of the congress directed its members to go on strike.

But on Friday, the Waheed Olojede-led executive council of the NLC in Oyo state asked the members of the congress to resume work today (Monday).

Several government workers who spoke to IBPulse.com accused Olojede and other members of collecting bribe from the state government; I found out almost all the workers have that belief. This prompted Olojede to respond.

According to him, the state chapter of the NLC decided to call off the strike after it reached a major agreement with representatives of the state government. He said they’ve been in dialogue with the state government even before the national excos decided to intervene.

He said he still has the interest of Oyo workers at heart.

Do you believe him?
