The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the collection of permanent voters’ cards (PVC) would officially commence in Ibadan and other cities across Nigeria tomorrow, August 15. The commission said the cards will be used for next year’s general elections.
In a bid to ensure free and fair elections, the commission have rolled out some guidelines. Collection of Permanent Voters Card (PVC) for all those that registered during the last general elections (2011) would be done between August 15 and 17. Registered voters are required to turn in their temporary voters card for the permanent one.
The collection would be done at the different polling centers in all the local governments across Oyo state. It is very important to do this because failure to do so mean the bearer of the temporary voters card won’t be able to vote in the 2015 general elections.
If you didn’t register during the last general elections because you were not of age (not yet 18), you have the chance to do so now if you have turned 18. INEC said you should visit the nearest polling station and register with the officials.
Registration of fresh voters would run from 20th – 25th August.
