Residents of Ibadan for the second day in a roll are experiencing rainfall which started in the early hours of Tuesday, leaving many roads waterlogged compelling road users to spend hours on the road.
At the Iwo Road, the usually heavy traffic was heavier on Tuesday night and extended from Agodi Gate to Ibadan Airport with several cars abandoned due to the harsh demands of the weather, fuel consumption and overheating.
Even though members of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) were on hand to control the traffic situation in addition to Police road traffic officers, not much could be achieved considering the large number of vehicles on the road.
Speaking to IBPulse.com, a cross-section of road users urged the state government to take urgent steps to address the rising traffic challenge in the city.
“It wasn’t like this before, and it is sad that Ibadan is fast becoming Lagos. We need access roads to be opened and traffic officers should stop joking with traffic offenders,” Ms Kikelomo Ajayi said.
