Gov Ajimobi charges students on self-independence

Oyo State governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has advised 2012/2013 female graduates of The Polytechnic Ibadan not to depend solely on their husbands for means of livelihood.

The governor gave the advice during the 29th convocation ceremony of the institution, which was held last Friday.
He said: “I want everyone of you to see yourself as a man who is saddled with the responsibility of taking care of the home financially and not a woman who will be waiting for the man to put money on the table before getting things done.”
Ajimobi further noted: “I can assure you, if you are determined and work very hard, no man will threaten to send you out of his house. I want to admonish you to be proactive in whatever you are doing and you will discover that sky is going to be your beginning.”
In his address, Acting Rector of the institution, Mr Felix Adeniran, said that since the 2011/2012 academic session, The Polytechnic Ibadan had not been having backlog of graduands.”
He further informed that: “This 2013 graduation ceremony is for the 2012/2013 session. The total number of graduands for this ceremony is 6,257. It is also gratifying to note that this feat had been possible because of the motivation received by staff in respect of the state government’s commitment to paying the salaries and allowances of staff as at when due.”
