A cross-section of entrepreneurs and business owners that are based in Ibadan have described difficulty in accessing funds as the major issue they contend with in their operations.
Speaking at the maiden edition of #After5ive organised by IBPulse and 9jaBookings.com in partnership with Smile Telecoms and NairaBet, the participants expressed their readiness to take their businesses to the next level if they can access the necessary financial support and other forms of information and assistance that could help in taking their businesses to the next level.
The event had in attendance tech developers, startup founders, entrepreneurs, business owners, media practitioners and the city’s most respected social media influencers including Iyabadan.
The first edition featured speeches delivered by Paul Adepoju, freelance journalist and managing editor of IBPulse.com. He stressed the need for entrepreneurs and other professionals in the city to come together to find ways through which they can partner to achieve great results.
“It’s only when we come together like this that we can bounce ideas, identify our strengths and develop solutions that would make strong impacts. There are myriads of opportunities that many are not aware of, it’s only through platforms such as the one we’ve created that entrepreneurs in Ibadan can leverage on their innovations to become a formidable force influencing decisions at the national level,” he said.
Other speakers include Balogun Danjuma, founder of Nigeria’s online celebrity booking platform 9jaBookings.com. He shared with the participants how he left his relatively well paying job to focus entirely on building his own company.
Representatives from DAWN Commission also spoke at the event, they shared the mission and vision of the commission and how entrepreneurs can benefit from its agenda. They informed participants about the commission’s Remaking The West initiative that will officially kick off this week.
This was followed by interactive sessions on various businesses, initiatives and projects including tips on how to win the federal government’s YouWin initiative for entrepreneurs.
