The first rainfall started some minute to four in the morning and lasted about one hour. I heard it also rained in neighbouring cities extending into Ogun and Osun states.
As we were congratulating ourselves for the first rainfall, it rained again during the day around 12 noon in cities where it had rained in the morning, IBPulse can report.
Some Ibadan residents that spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) were glad about the rainfall, saying it would help in reducing the heat.
Mr Ajayi Adetayo, said he was relieved from the heat experienced in the last one month and able to sleep well because of the rain.
“The first rain of the year is a sign of blessing, I never knew it will come this early; all the same it is a welcome development.
“I want to advice that government should prepare for the rainy season so that we will not be caught unawares when heavy rain comes,’’ Adetayo said. Mrs Asake Are, a civil servant, also said the rain was a sign blessing for the state and country.
“I hope it will bring more blessing in food production this year, I foresee a bountiful harvest this year.
“I observed that residents have not been keeping the environment clean; we must ensure that our drainage are properly cleared to avoid flooding,’’ Are said.
