Oyo state former governor Rashidi Ladoja who was charged with N4.7bn fraud will reappear in a Federal high court Lagos come March 31.
According to News Agency of Nigeria- NAN, the trial was to have been carried on prior the new date but did not continue because judges were said to be attending a conference on the earlier date. This prompted the Federal High Court Lagos where the jurisdiction was moved to consider an adjournment.
However, Waheed Akanbi aide to the ex governor was found a major accomplice to the fraud charge. Regarding the prosecution from Economic and Financial Crimes Commission-EFCC against the duo, they attracted an eight-count charge but they pleaded ‘not guilty’.
“The EFCC had in November 2008 called to account the accused on 10 counts charge of ‘conspiring to convert properties and resources derived from an alleged illegal act with the intention of concealing their illicit origin” revealed the Commission. Further , the Commission claimed that Ladoja purchased an Armoured Land Cruiser Jeep with N42 million and slackened 600,000 Pounds to one Bimpe Ladoja in London from the proceeds of the fraud.
