The government of Oyo state has announced activities lined up for the burial of the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Odulana Odugade.
The burial ceremonies would begin this Friday with a special prayer session which will be held during the Friday Jumaat Service at the Central Mosque, Oja’aba in the heart of Ibadan.
This will then be followed by Service of Songs to be held on Sunday January 7 at the Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo. On Monday February 8, the late monarch will be laid in state at Igbo Elerin Ladunni Compound Oja Igbo. The next day, Tuesday February 9, there will be a public lecture, symposium and cultural day.
On Wednesday, attention will then shift to the ancient Mapo Hall for lying-in-state, tribute and praises for the late king. Another wake will be held on Thursday at the House of Chiefs, Secretariat Ibadan in the morning while in the evening, the Christian Wake will be held at the Monatan Palace of the late king.
On Friday February 12, the funeral service will be held at The Cathedral of St Peters’ at Aremo. After the burial, the guests will be treated to a reception at the Ibadan Recreation Club Adamasingba in the heart of the city of Ibadan.
The burial ceremonies will be concluded with a thanksgiving service on Sunday February 14 at The Cathedral of St Peters’ at Aremo.
