Over 40 students in Ibadan have been exposed to computer science, especially how to write codes, courtesy of The Hour of Code global initiative that is reaching millions of people in about 180 countries.
In Ibadan, the second edition of the event was held at Moret Comprehensive School Adamasingba. At the event, several speakers spoke on the importance and opportunities of computer science with special focus on how to write codes.
The resource persons included Toni Solarin, Microsoft /Windows Developer; Tosin Adewole, Computer Science graduate; Abdulkabeer Ishola, Microsoft Innovation Expert; Oshidero Oluwamayowa a former Google Student Ambassador and Digital Business Manager. Olaoluwa Akinola and Hamza Fetuga, Microsoft Student Partners for the University of Ibadan and other volunteers.
They urged the students to make use of the opportunities presented by the initiative to learn and to have fun.
Speaking on opportunities for girls in technology, Tosin said several women are making impacts in technology and some of them are Nigerians.
