6,673 card readers for 5,620 voting points in Oyo state


The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo state has announced it has received 6,673 card readers for its 5,620 voting points in the state.

IBPulse.com gathered each card reader contains the details of not more than 750 voters and the battery life is 12 hours. If you do the math, you would see that there are extra 1,053 card readers that INEC said will serve as contingency arrangement for the Card Readers that may malfunction.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Rufus Akeju, also announced over 20,000 youths, mostly made up of corps members, have been screened, trained and recruited as presiding officers and assistant presiding officers.
