Akala dumps Labour Party, joins APC in Oyo state
DEVELOPING STORY… In an interesting twist that is expected to spark dialogue in the political space in Oyo state, a former governor of Oyo state Adebayo Alao-Akala has decided to dump his party, the Labour Party, and is now pitching his tent with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, just as IBPulse exclusively predicted in April.
The Labour Party governorship candidate in the Oyo 2015 guber election has reportedly dumped his party for All Progressives Congress(APC).
Going by rumors and reports, Alao-Akala held the final meeting with leaders and his followers at his Bodija residence in Ibadan yesterday (Tuesday) where he announced his plan to defect to the ruling party.
To this end, all his followers in their respective wards across the state are to join APC.
The formal declaration for Alao-Akala’s defection is expected to hold in 2016. it is imperative to note that the former governor has been attending some APC programmes lately and was spotted with ex-Osun governor/APC chieftain Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola at the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi’s coronation ceremony.
Is it possible that Akala is positioning himself to take over from Ajimobi in 2019? Is he trying to create division within the APC? Or is he striving to enjoy the largesse of governance since it’s been a while he last enjoyed such. Many questions but few answers… Only time will tell his real motive.
