Ibadan beats Dubai, sets new world record

International nutrition company, Nestlé, has set a new world record in the Nigerian city of Ibadan for the longest breakfast cereal table.

About 1700 participants including IBPulse.com’s team were involved in the record attempt for the world’s largest cereal breakfast, a title that was held by the city of Dubai with 1,354 participants
The record was broken on Saturday November 30, 2013, at the Cocoa Mall in Ibadan.
Commenting on the achievement, Gerben Kamps, category business manager for MILO Crunchy Cereals said the company decided to take on the challenge with the goal of drawing attention to breakfast which is the most important meal of the day.
“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Studies have shown that people who skip breakfast miss out on many vital nutrients, which they are unlikely to make-up for during the rest of the day. With this event, we have informed over 2 million people in Ibadan about the need to eat breakfast,” Kamps said.
The company revealed that more than 5,500 bowls of the delicious nutritious MILO Crunchy Cereals were served.
“We know mornings are stressful, but a bowlful of Nestlé MILO Crunchy Cereals only takes seconds in preparation. So no more excuses: eat breakfast! Let’s break another record: Nigeria, the country with highest breakfast cereal consumption in Africa”, he added.
“In total, we placed over 30,000 smiles on kids’ faces through this event,” said Kamps. Aside the meals, 8 people were rewarded with a full year supply of MILO Crunchy Cereal, while 700 others won other great prizes.
