This Saturday, Seyi Makinde who appears to be the underdog will attempt to outsmart other contestants which include 2 former governors, the incumbent governor and a former Senate leader. This is a tough task for someone who doesn’t have much stuffs on his political resume.
Makinde has spent a lot, as a matter of fact, he is seen as the contestant that has spent more than the rest but if you independently ask around, you would find out many citizens of the state are not yet on board the Seyi Makinde Train.
He has successfully presented himself as a young, ambitious and very nice man. But he should speedily strategize to attract the intelligentsia in the state that he can handle the affairs of the state.
We all know that last minute gasps in Oyo politics are effective during elections, Makinde needs such desperately.
I know he is doing a lot of ‘strategization’ at the grassroots but he needs to do more. There should be more visible presence – something a more established political party could have helped with.
I just heard on radio he would be on Splash FM today, and I think that is his last opportunity to win undecided voters – especially who are tired of the usual names and want someone different altogether.
Whichever way this election ends for Makinde, I know he is going to be a formidable force to reckon with in the political clime of Ibadan and Oyo state in general.
