Ademola Ajibola heads MoreKlue Group, organisers of the Pacesetters Awards scheduled to host on Indepdence Day October 1 at Jogor Center in Ibadan. You can read more about the event here. In this exclusive interview with IBPulse.com, he spoke extensively on the genesis of the event, awardees, expectations and what attendees stand to benefit from the one-of-its-kind show.
IBPulse: What’s the event all about?
Ajibola: It’s basically an event designed to celebrate people who’s investments, presence and interests has helped in developing Oyo State. The winners are selected from indigenes, residents and investors of the state.
Who are you expecting at the show?
Lots of people. We expect the 3 classes of the society, that’s the high class, middle class and the lower class. We are all about showcasing the PACESETTING trend of we Oyo state people so we are not segregating anyone.
Why did you choose October 1?
I have been in the social circles of Ibadan for a while now and I think there isn’t any calendar event for Independence yet in the state ecxept for the normal club raves we have so I felt we should fill the vacuum by creating an event that carries everyone along.
Shed more light on the agenda of the event.
We are creating an event that will beat out many expectations. I can tell you this as a matter of fact that PACESETTERS AWARDS will have the biggest red carpet ever in the history of events in Oyo State and its going to be customized. We are putting up an event whose memories will keep living in people’s head till we come back in 2015.
How many people are you expecting?
I can’t say tho. I’m not God and I can’t see the future but we are making provisions for over 2000 people. We’d be using Felicia Hall and the hall can sit over 2000 people so I hope God gives us a packed hall. We won’t mind having 5000 people around tho (Laughs).
What will attendees benefit from the event?
We have some brand partners who will be giving our freebies ranging from Phones to Gadgets to Free drinks, Tops, souvenirs and all and its also an avenue for people to meet people who can add more to their lives. And its also a recreational platform for us to relax, have fun and have a great holiday. For every range of ticket bought, there is a take away of over 20% for the buyer.
In February you staged the MoreKlue All Youths Award. How was the response as an indication of what to expect on October 1?
Last February, we staged MAYA Awards (MoreKlue All Youths Award) and we just did the normal online hype and all and we had a packed hall. All tables were taken and people were standing on the walkway. 2 of my personal friends got to the venue minutes after 7pm and they met an empty hall because we had no behind schedule thing. No African time syndrome so this time, we are moving ahead and hoping for a better attempt.
What were the criteria you considered while selecting the recipients?
Their achievements and visibility. None of the 18 winners have fallen beyond expectations. We selected them all on their works and how much impact they have made on people.
What are your expectations for the show?
A good outing. We want a good turn out of people and we hope the purpose of celebrating the achievers will be justified as we are celebrating these 18 personalities to inspire more people into doing laudable projects and ventures.
What is the vision and who are the visionaries behind the initiative?
The event is put up by MoreKlue Group and the idea was birth by Ademola Ajibola, I think that’s me (laughs).
What else would you like to tell IBPulse.com’s readers?
We’d tell the readers of IBPulse.com and even everyone seeing and reading this to come out en masse on the 1st of October, 2014 and let’s celebrate independence together. We’d be tagged failure if after all we have put up for this event, we are the only ones in the hall. This project is an indigenous one and we so much want to believe Oyo state people will show us the anticipated love and support.
