Ademola Rasak, former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Osun state chapter has died today (Thursday) at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, he was 57 years old.
According to reports, he fell ill on Thursday morning and was taken to the University College Hospital for treatment. He however died on admission into the intensive care unit of the hospital.
Rasaq was an indigene of Ode-Omu in Ayedaade Local Government area of Osun State. He was survived by a wife, children and grandchildren.
The party has described the loss as a blow to the party, especially in the state. According to the party chairman in Osun state, Gani Olaoluwa, Rasaq’s death came as a shock. He prayed that God would grant his family and the party the fortitude to bear the loss.
He said: “I am shocked to hear this sad news. His death is a painful blow that has created a big vacuum in Osun PDP. The vacuum created by Ademola’s death is even bigger considering the fact that he died when the party is preparing for the 2014 governorship poll and given his influence as a leader and grassroots person. We pray to God to console his family and the party.”
