I visited the University of Ibadan today to cover the protest called by students of the institution following the death of one of them who was not given emergency treatment at the Jaja Clinic. Read more about what happened here.
The peaceful protest went beyond the premises of the institution as students mounted barricades on the major highway in front of the university forcing the Agbowo community and commuters plying the road to feel the impact of the protest.
Someone brought a gas cooker to the middle of the road and police officers were just looking on since the protest did not go violent.
The students made their points heard, we can only hope the school management will compel the clinic to improve its service delivery and stop rejecting students who visit to receive medical care.
In related development, a candlelight procession would be held in honor of the late student. May his soul rest in peace.
