Resumption and examination dates announced for University of Ibadan

The management of the University of Ibadan yesterday announced a resumption date for the school which was shut down indefinitely following protests by the students. Information gathered by IBPulse revealed that the management has also announced the date for the commencement of examinations in the institution.

Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Abel Idowu Olayinka: “The Senate has agreed and resolved to re-open the school for full academic activities on the 20th June, 2016 while examinations will commence on July 4.”‎

The decision to re-open the school was sequel to the stakeholders meeting which the university community had with parents of the students on Tuesday where many of the parents and the Student ‎Union President, Olateju Aliu Oladimeji, pleaded with the Vice Chancellor to forgive the excesses of the students involved in the protest, and let academic activities resume.

While considering the decision of the Committee of Provost, Deans and Directors, the Senate urged the university administration to hold an interactive session with the student body before being allowed into residence on the need to abide by the matriculation oath and conduct themselves in a responsible manner.
