United States’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has donated books worth N11 million to selected Nigerian schools including the University of Ibadan with the goal of institutional strengthening for sustainability.

The donation was announced yesterday in Abuja by Country Director in Nigeria, US CDC, Dr. Okey Nwanyanwu. According to him, the donation is an investment in learning and capacity of “books everywhere” reading culture.
Project Director, Nigeria Centers for Disease Control, Prof. Abdulsalami Nasidi noted that the modern public health books on epidemiology, statistics, zoonoses, laboratory and environment will be shared by the University of Ibadan and Ahmadu Bello University.
He said: “We are giving these books out to universities to make sure that their libraries are up to date and to use them to encourage the new generation of Nigerian public health care workers and scientists.”
