Work resumes in UCH Ibadan as health workers call strike off

Work is expected to resume tomorrow Wednesday at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan as striking health workers in Nigeria under the umbrella of the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU) have called off their over 3-month strike.

HealthNewsNG reported that the health workers decided to call off the strike following the intervention of President Goodluck Jonathan who met the leadership of the union and other stakeholders in the health sector last night at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja.

Last month I wrote about how the strike action had turned the UCH Ibadan into a ghost town, you can read the piece here. With the strike called off however, it is expected that healthcare services will once again be offered at the tertiary healthcare facility which is the premier teaching hospital in Nigeria.
